(Polish Press Agency) For the initiation of parliamentary investigation into the mass purchase of a new influenza vaccines in Italy, opted the Club's head of the ruling People of Freedom Party in the Senate, Maurizio Gasparri. In his opinion behind the decision to buy millions of vaccines are powerful pharmaceutical companies. The coalition politician, quoted by the Ansa agency, noted that type A/H1N1 flu turned out to be similar to the seasonal and usually mild. Meanwhile – he noted - huge stocks of vaccines were bought, which were not used. In this way, Gasparri referred to the reports that only 1 in 70 doses were used, because the vast majority of Italians did not take the possibility of inoculation. It's hard not to think about speculative maneuvers on a global dimension by unscrupulous pharmaceutical multinationals concerns, powerful enough to influence the information that, with its alarmist tone, serves those sharks - said senator Gasparri. He added: - They won’t get away with the illegal profits. - We must determine whether the person who earned without a reason, can return the profits accumulated through the lies - said the Italian politician. The Italian health ministry planned to immunize 40 percent of the population against the new flu. According to the press about 200 million euro has been spent on vaccines. But so far approximately 800 thousand people got immunised. Influenza type A sickened about 4 million people, but because of complications caused by other serious diseases and chronic ailments, 193 people died.
