太陽在兩極的運動與地平線平行,沒有日出日落
The sun motion is parallel to the horizon level at the poles

What does the sun do at the Pole? Well it walks parallel to the horizon level without rising or setting!

This amazing timelapse shows the sun circling around the horizon in 24h during nearly 5 days from March 08-13, 2017 in Antarctica.

And as you see, our star walks parallel to the horizon level without rising or setting! as if Earth was flat on both poles.

Scientific explanation

The height of the Sun at noon (the time at upper climax) is described by the following universal formula:

hmax = 90 ° – latitude + 23.5 °; For the pole (latitude = 90 °); hmax = (90 ° – 90 °) + 23.5 ° = + 23.5 °.

The height of the Sun at midnight (the time at lower climax) is described by the following universal formula:

hmin = (latitude + 23.5 °) – 90 °; For a pole (latitude = 90 °); hmin = (90 ° + 23.5 °) -90 ° = + 23.5 °.

Because hmin = hmax, the Sun “walks” along the horizon at an altitude of 23.5 ° without setting or rising.
