No vaccine, no flight.
That’s the message from Australian carrier Qantas, as it plans to make vaccination against COVID-19 compulsory for passengers once the world’s second-oldest airline resumes international flights next year.
‘We are looking at changing our terms and conditions to say for international travelers, that we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft,’ explained Qantas boss Alan Joyce.
Proof of vaccination would likely be stored in an electronic ‘digital passport,’ he said.
It is understood work is already being done by several government agencies on how the smart chip in modern passports could be adapted to include a ‘vaccination field.’
Already the move has sparked a fierce backlash from anti-vaxxers around the globe, who claim it amounts to discrimination.
