Another week, another headline-grabbing quote from Elon Musk.
The Tesla and SpaceX boss has said that he won’t get a Covid-19 vaccine because he’s not at risk. When asked on the New York Times’ podcast Sway if he’d get a vaccine, he said:
'No, I'm not at risk for Covid. Nor are my kids.'
The man who shot a car into space also criticized the lack of rationality behind various lockdown measures.
'I mean this is a hot-button issue where rationality takes a back seat,’ he said. ‘In the grand scheme of things what we have is something with a very low mortality rate and high contagion... Essentially, the right thing to do would be to not have done a lockdown for the whole country [USA] but to have anyone that who is at risk quarantine until the storm passes.'
He also pointed out that ‘everybody dies' – a line he tends not to use when discussing Tesla’s driverless cars – and called for an emphasis on the ‘greater good.’
'It has diminished my faith in humanity, the whole thing...the irrationality of people in general,' he said.
