In Libya, Western funded non-governmental organizations brought a lot attention to the bloodshed ex-leader Mommar Gaddaffi was imposing on his people. The information gathered was used to justify an attack on Gaddafi and his government, but after his death reports have shown the information that was used to lead the attacks was incorrect.

Non-government organizations have been blamed for Western intervention in Libya. According to information published by NGO's, ex-Libyan leader Mommar Gaddaffi hired mercenaries to supposedly killed innocent people. This information justified a NATO lead bombing in the country resulting in the death of the long time leader Gaddafi. According to a report by the Center for the Study of Interventionism, NGO's made the situation appear worse than it actually was.
