The Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Rafael Ramirez has raised concerns over an alleged international strategy to weaken and fragment the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries. The plot, according to Ramirez, is mainly led by the U.S., which seeks to satisfy its own energy needs at the expense of oil-rich countries.

On the other hand, the official United Socialist Party argues that the dictatorship that submits countries to subjugation and violence because they do not respond to the interests of the empire cannot continue to prevail.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum has said the almost 100,000 workers of the Venezuelan oil industry stand by President Chavez and has called them to soon take to the streets to advocate for his re-election in 2012.
