A top American scientist has disappeared without a trace on the Greek island of Crete after going for a run.
Suzanne Eaton, 59, disappeared without a trace on Tuesday on Greece's Crete
- The scientist was attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy near Chania
- She is believed to have gone for her daily run and left behind wallet and phone
- Relatives think she became overheated or may have fallen in the rough terrain
- Police, firefighters, local volunteers, planes and boats have scoured the area
- The search is expanding with dogs and equipment to search at sea, family said
- Loved-ones are raising funds to support the growing search mission for Dr. Eaton
- Dr. Eaton is an American molecular biologist at Germany's Max Planck Institute
- Her husband, British scientist Tony Hyman, and two sons are on Crete searching
Suzanne Eaton, 59, a molecular biologist at the Max Planck Institute in Dresden, Germany, disappeared Tuesday while attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy of Crete near the northwestern town of Chania.
Police and firefighters, joined by local volunteers, on Friday searched an area near the village of Kolymbari outside Chania.
