綜合媒體報道，歐洲國家繼續遭受嚴寒天氣的影響，已造成波蘭近300人被凍死。嚴寒天氣還對民眾生活產生不利影響，英國北愛爾蘭地區因水管被凍裂，導致4萬戶人家無水可用長達10天。
據波蘭警方29日提供的消息稱，截至目前，今年的寒冬已經造成波蘭全國近300人被凍死。
進入冬季后，波蘭和很多歐洲國家被突如其來的大雪及嚴寒侵襲。波蘭全國各地不斷有人凍死街頭，這些人主要是無家可歸者、生病的老人和酗酒后醉倒街頭的人。
英國北愛爾蘭同樣遭到嚴寒天氣襲擊，導致許多水管凍結爆裂，4萬戶人家已經10天沒有水用，政府機構及紅十字會等慈善團體全部動員，協助運水，有關單位緊急研商如何解決缺水危機。
北愛爾蘭政府說，今年冬天，水管爆裂的數量前所未見，將近80個村鎮受到影響。水務公司預估斷水的狀況至少還會持續好幾天，並把這場危機歸咎於設備老舊。在政府設置的臨時供水站，瓶裝水已經被搶拿一空。此外，蘇格蘭方面已同意進行支援。

報告指出，2005年平均每天揭露的綁架案件還不到一起（0.89），但是2010年的頭7個月平均每天揭露的綁架案件為3.72起。國家人權委員會根據公共安全公民委員會和刑事司法機構的統計說，2000-2008年沒有揭露的綁架案件達到75%，即有四分之三的綁架案件沒有被揭露。公民不安全研究所根據對全國受害者的一項調查認為，2007年發生6600起綁架案件，但是17起案件中隻有一起被揭露，有分析認為有國家的官員參與綁架犯罪，一些警察受犯罪團伙控制。在綁架者中有22%為軍隊、聯邦警察和國家的公司工作。有組織犯罪團伙參與了30%的綁架案件。

"According to the standard version, he committed suicide in his cell within the past week or so. Ynet reported the suicide story and noted that it was under gag order. Of course, this story was erased from the internet," writes the journalist.
Nevertheless, Silverstein questions the circumstances surrounding the death of the inmate who, the journalist says, "is Asgari, and not some other secret security prisoner."
"In the case of the death of a prisoner under special treatment [held by the security services], why it was not within the power of the Prison Service to prevent the suicide or some other form of violent death?" asks Silverstein.
"He is a victim of the Israeli secret police. … It is they, and no one else including me, who is responsible for his death," writes the journalist.
Silverstein says Israel held Asgari while telling the world he was enjoying his new life as a defector in Virginia.
"It also seems likely that the security services … must've exhausted the useful information they could get from him. And so in yet another sense he was expendable,'' Silverstein says in his article.
Silverstein points the finger at Israeli spy agency Mossad as the main culprit.

自2009年11月27日農業部批準兩種轉基因水稻、一種轉基因玉米的安全證書後，轉基因食物、作物對人民生命健康和環境安全的影響已引起了廣泛的社會關注，已經有越來越多的學術文章和調查研究報告揭示出轉基因食物、作物的産業化對人類和環境的嚴重威脅。其中就包括美國科學、醫學界及政府部門對轉基因食品和作物的否定和反省，及我主流媒體關于我國北方大規模種植美國玉米先玉335造成嚴重生态災難的報導。
美國已徹底否定了我們正在推廣的第一代轉基因技術
2009年5月，美國環境醫學科學研究院推出的報告引起了轟動。報告強烈建議：轉基因食品對病人有嚴重的安全威脅，号召成員醫生不要讓他們的病人食用轉基因食品，并教育所在社區民衆盡量避免食用轉基因。“一些動物實驗表明，食用轉基因食品有嚴重損害健康的風險，包括不育，免疫問題，加速老化，胰島素的調節和主要髒腑及胃腸系統的改變，”美國科學院環境醫學研究院得出的結論是，“轉基因食品和健康的不利影響之間不是了無關系的，而是存在着因果的關系。”世界著名生物學家普什帕米巴爾加在審查了600多個科學期刊後得出結論：轉基因生物是令美國人健康急劇惡化的一大因素。（盡管美國人從未将轉基因食品當作主食，隻是少部分食物添加劑内混有轉基因成分。）
對于轉基因的的侵害原理，研究院指出：插入到轉基因大豆裏的基因會轉移到生活在我們腸道裏的細菌的DNA裏面去，并繼續發揮作用。報告發布後，美國衛生部2009年底也發表科學論文，指明轉基因食品可對内髒造成傷害。[注1]
美國政府防疫中心和美國衛生部于2008年10月、2010年01月和2010年05月“食品國民周”發布報告說，從1997年到2006年，少兒食品過敏案例顯著增加；而1996年正是轉基因食品商業化上市開始之年。報告統計還顯示，自轉基因食品上市後，原本是“天然健康食品”的大豆轉變爲官方規定的過敏原食品。美國最近又加強了食品監管檢測，其中就明确有DNA檢測。
轉基因作物給農業造成的麻煩也引起了美國學界和政府部門的關注。
今年4月，美國國家科學院發布的研究報告《轉基因作物對美國農業可持續性的影響》中，針對讓農民苦惱的雜草問題指出，種植轉基因作物并沒有消除雜草，反而使除草劑用量持續上升，給環境安全造成威脅。
除了超級雜草，轉基因農田裏還出現了超級蟲。由于轉基因作物并不針對次生害蟲，這使得一些次生蟲漸漸成爲作物的主要害蟲。而除蟲劑讓這些害蟲有了抗藥性，變成超級蟲，農民雖然投入更多的藥物治理蟲害，卻仍無濟于事。
美國國家科學院說：長期實踐證明，所謂防蟲害的轉基因作物種植需要拿出農田的20％套種同類天然作物，以便讓害蟲“有飯吃”，避免它們成爲抗體“超級害蟲”。就是說，轉基因作物不但沒能防蟲害、反而促使原本是小蟲害的害蟲變成“超級害蟲”。
美國國家科學院的報告用16年的實踐事實和統計數據明确說明，長期種植轉基因作物會給農業經濟帶來無法糾正彌補的副作用。
一直堅持認爲美國農民從種植轉基因作物中獲益的美國農業部也終于改口，美國農業部的最新統計承認了：種植轉基因後，農田作業的燃料成本提高了一倍多、農藥的用量超過了天然作物種植、種子成本也大幅度上升。[注2]
最近，在美國反轉基因強大民意的推動下，爲孟山都公司轉基因農作物頒發許可證的美國農業部已兩次被美國聯邦法院裁定“允許種植轉基因作物違法”。[注3]
已公之于衆的世界各國證明轉基因食物嚴重危害健康的大量實驗報告
早在十年前，全球828位科學家（其中181位美國科學家，115位英國科學家）就曾緻信世界各國政府，鑒于轉基因作物對生物多樣性和人類及動物健康無可置疑的嚴重危害，及減低産量、提高除草劑用量，加強糧食公司壟斷，導緻農民貧困，阻止農業朝可持續方向轉變等惡果，呼籲立即暫停向環境釋放一切轉基因作物及産品，包括商業化種植和露天大田試驗，至少暫停5年；呼籲撤銷和禁止對生命過程、生物體、種子、細胞株系和基因頒發專利；對關系到一切人未來的農業和食品安全的問題，呼籲進行公衆大讨論。

自轉基因産業化問題引起我國社會強烈關注後，已有越來越多國外轉基因食物喂養動物試驗，甚至人類志願者的轉基因食物試驗結果披露出來。
其中英國紐卡斯爾大學（Newcastle University）2004年出版了爲食物标準局完成的轉基因食品對人體影響試驗報告。食品安全局組織英國志願者進行了食用轉基因大豆食品的試驗，科學家發現轉基因大豆中含有的整個被改造過基因的基因通過胃和小腸的過程中繼續生存，而且，一部分從轉基因食品“橫向”遷移移進入某些志願者腸道細菌。[注5]
俄羅斯自2005年葉爾馬科娃博士所做轉基因大豆喂食懷孕母鼠實驗（在該實驗中一半以上小白鼠剛出生後就很快死亡，幸存的40%也萎靡不振，其中有些也喪失了生育能力 [注6]），從而證明轉基因食物嚴重摧殘動物生殖能力後，俄羅斯科學家又于2010年4月16日公布了新的獨立研究成果，進一步證明倉鼠食用轉基因大豆三代就會絕種。[注7]

Smith）在2009年7月的文章《醫生警告避開轉基因食品》中披露了大量轉基因食物危害人畜的事實，如“印度在哈裏亞納邦的調查表明，大多數吃了轉基因棉籽的水牛有并發症，如早産，流産，不育，并子宮脫垂。許多小牛死亡。在美國，大約24個農民報告說數千隻豬吃了轉基因玉米品種後成了不能生殖的，一些服用後出現假懷孕，有的生下袋水。奶牛和公牛進食了相同的玉米也成爲不育。”[注8] “當雄性老鼠喂食轉基因大豆後，其睾丸實際上改變了顔色：從粉紅色的正常色轉至深藍色。老鼠喂食轉基因大豆就已經改變了年輕的精子。甚至是用轉基因食物喂養的母鼠體内的胚胎的基因（DNA）亦有重大的改變。”[注9]
“在印度，當有牧羊人讓其羊群吃轉基因棉花植株（内有Bt），數以千計的羊死亡。在德幹發展協會的一個小的後續跟進的喂養試驗行動中，所有喂過Bt轉基棉植物的羊30天内全部死亡，而那些吃天然棉花植物的羊保持健康。
在安得拉邦一個小村莊，2008年1月3日，水牛首次吃了含有Bt棉花的植物後，所有13隻水牛第二天便生病了，跟着3天内全部死亡。 Bt玉米也牽涉在德國母牛的死亡，和菲律賓的馬，水牛，和雞的死亡中。
在實驗室研究中，很多雞喂了『自由鏈接』（Liberty Link）玉米死亡，20個中有7隻喂食轉基因西紅柿的大鼠發展出胃出血，另外40隻中有 7隻兩個星期内死亡。根據法國毒物學家G.E.Seralini，『孟山都』自已的研究亦證明，Bt玉米喂養的大鼠，其主要内髒有中毒的現象。”[注10]”
此外還有全球大量揭露轉基因危害動物與人類健康惡果研究報告公之于衆，不勝枚舉。（僅英國土壤協會的研究報告就引用了美國、英國、德國、意大利、俄羅斯、日本等國研究者的48篇參考文獻，包括受美國、歐盟、英國等國政府部門委托研究項目的論文、非政府環保組織研究項目的論文，也包括孟山都等轉基因農作物公司自己進行的研究項目論文。[注11]）
轉基因食品/作物泛濫肆虐使我國面臨前所未有的民族和人民生存危機
2010年最令人震驚的轉基因災難當屬美國玉米品種先玉335在我北方迅猛擴展（已超過我國北方玉米種植面積一半）造成的大範圍嚴重動物異常，在先玉335種植區，“大老鼠消失、母豬愛生死胎、狗肚子裏都是水，此外，羊也出現異常情況。全國聞名的生豬集散地，很多村子的養豬業已經變得蕭條。而這些出現異常的動物，幾乎都吃過同一種玉米——先玉335。”[注12]
新華社《國際先驅導報》記者在山西、吉林進行大量實地調查後于2010年9月對此進行了報導。之後山西農業廳立即“辟謠”，但此“辟謠”聲明卻進一步證明了先玉335種植區大老鼠絕迹和羊僅生一胎等事實，隻是否認這些與先玉335有關。對于大老鼠絕迹，山西農業廳解釋爲農民房屋都是水泥地老鼠無法打洞（玉米地裏也是水泥的嗎？），羊隻生一胎被解釋爲“羊是單胎動物”（前所未聞）。此後，又有很多媒體及國家環保部的實地考察相繼證實了新華社記者關于先玉335種植區動物異常報導的真實性。（隻是由于某些原因這些媒體的調查一直無法發表。）不僅山西、吉林，山東、河南先玉335種植區也同樣出現類似的動物異常。
“美國的專利記錄顯示，中國大量種植的玉米種子‘先玉335’的父本PH4CV的類别編号指示爲轉基因農作物，”[注13] 但農業部和美國杜邦先鋒公司否認先玉335是轉基因。而我國種子行業内卻公認迪卡007（升級版迪卡008）和先玉335是轉基因品種，不然它爲何能抗蟲？又爲何在先玉335種植區普遍出現動物異常？而同樣在山西、吉林，種植我國天然玉米的地方卻無動物異常。
先玉335種植區普遍動物異常是連轉基因推手們都無法否認的事實，僅此就足以證明這種美國玉米嚴重威脅生命安全。老鼠繁殖快，兩三年已繁殖數代，其滅絕也預示着這塊土地上人類幾代之後的命運，不管先玉335是否轉基因，它造成如此嚴重的生态災難是确鑿無誤的！這是迄今範圍最大最冷酷無情的生物“實驗”，上百萬平方公裏幾億人不知不覺中已置身于可怕的實驗之中……如此大範圍高代價确鑿無誤的生物“實驗”足以抵消任何小規模實驗的偶然性和不确定性，事實勝于雄辯！先玉335與生态災難的關系是無可置疑的必然性，應立即禁種！并對其進行多學科全面調查、檢測，及嚴格的生物對照試驗！
可是由于農業部積極爲杜邦先鋒公司辟謠宣傳，先玉335仍繼續大面積種植…… （抛開玉米本身的安全問題，我國北方一半的玉米種植控制在一個美國公司手中，這本身已對農業安全構成威脅，可見農業部在美國公司利益和國家糧食安全之間的傾向性。）
轉基因玉米在我國已形成南北夾攻之勢，種質都來自美國，北有先玉、南有迪卡，廣西大學生精子抽樣檢查竟有一半以上不合格，很難說這與該省種植孟山都迪卡玉米無關。
農業部确實如其所說未批準過任何轉基因玉米種植，但對打着雜交招牌的隐蔽外來轉基因品種卻不僅任其泛濫，而且爲其宣傳辟謠。因此而造成的惡果比批準種植轉基因小嗎？
除轉基因玉米大肆種植泛濫外，轉基因稻種和大米的泛濫趨勢仍在繼續，不斷有我國出口歐洲的大米米粉制品因含轉基因成分被打回，也不斷有轉基因大米和稻種非法流通被綠色和平舉報查獲，甚至國家儲備糧庫也被轉基因大米污染。[注14]
我國去年進口了4000多萬噸轉基因大豆，今年又大幅增長至5000多萬噸，平均每個城市人口一年要消費100多公斤轉基因大豆。轉基因油菜籽和菜籽油的進口也大量增加。今年中糧集團還首次大量進口轉基因玉米。
現我西北幾省區已大量種植美國轉基因葵花籽，山東去年就與外資成立轉基因花生中心，轉基因葵花籽和花生油必将充斥市場，加之大量進口（或國内加工）的轉基因大豆和菜籽油，及徒有虛名的“非轉基因”玉米油，我國人民喪失不吃轉基因食用油的選擇權，已是近在咫尺的前景。
此外，相當一些轉基因蔬菜、水果等也早已在市場非法流通，絕大部分都沒有轉基因标識。
大量轉基因大豆加工的豆粕、先玉、迪卡、及農業部批準進口的11種美國轉基因玉米，已構成目前我國飼料的主要來源，轉基因飼料不僅嚴重危害動物健康，而且嚴重危害人類！
（英國）土壤協會2008年公布的該研究報告證明：基因工程确實對健康造成了真實的風險，轉基因農作物是不安全的，不應該作爲動物與人類的食品，而且，用轉基因農作物飼料喂養的雞生的蛋、用轉基因農作物飼料喂養的牛的牛奶與肉類檢測出含有轉基因物質，也不應該作爲人類的食品！[注15]
一些養雞農戶說，雞飼料中轉基因豆粕含量超過一定比例，産蛋率就會明顯下降。有養魚農戶則反映，魚飼料中轉基因豆粕如超過20%，魚就爛腸子。用含轉基因成分的飼料喂養生豬，因存欄期僅3-5個月，問題尚不及暴露；但以這些飼料喂食母豬、種豬，就會出現生育率顯著下降，患病增加等異常情況。
問題的嚴重性還不止是食用油、玉米、大米、稻種、豆制品、及一些蔬菜、水果、飼料等轉基因泛濫，“目前，中國正在研究和開發的各種轉基因生物物種已超過100種，涉及動物、植物、微生物基因200多個，若幹作物品種已具備了産業化條件。” [注16] 這些轉基因項目幾乎上涵蓋了人們的所有食物和主要林木，還包括一些中草藥材。
據悉“‘十二五’期間，國家對轉基因品種的研發支持是300個億，而常規育種隻有1.8個億。”[注17] 相差竟達166倍。
可見我國不僅是全球唯一将轉基因當作主糧的國家，而且也是唯一将轉基因當作農業和林業發展方向的國家。此方向意味着我國天然物種将被轉基因全面取代，中國人民也将因此陷入轉基因的汪洋大海，從而徹底喪失不吃轉基因的選擇權。這在全世界也是絕無僅有。
由于農業部對其轉基因管理職能失職渎職，以緻轉基因種子和食品在我國流通幾乎都無轉基因标記違法泛濫，加之國務院又取消了農民種植、養殖轉基因動植物的行政審批程序，轉基因項目的産業化已無太大阻礙。因此，這100多個轉基因物種及境外轉基因物種中到底有多少已在我國市場流通，人們根本無從知曉，我國人民徹底喪失不吃轉基因的選擇權已爲期不遠。
這已經不隻是在推廣轉基因了，而是爲了國内外某些人的轉基因既得利益而剝奪天下蒼生吃天然食品的權利——這一最基本的生存權。
對于生态環境來說，轉基因污染是永遠不可能清除的，它一旦釋放到環境，就永遠不再能被人類控制。長期大量釋放轉基因之後，我國生态系統和生态平衡将被徹底毀滅，萬劫不複。（在對環境的破壞方面，轉基因林業更甚于轉基因農業。）
目前我國失去理智的轉基因狂熱不僅正殃及食物和環境，衛生部門也在莫名其妙搞中草藥轉基因，這不僅将更嚴重危害人民健康種族繁衍，而且将徹底摧毀中醫中藥，摧毀我們以中醫文化爲代表的中華文化精華！
總之，我國因轉基因産業化正面臨前所未有的民族和人民生存危機！除非國家嚴格禁止轉基因産業化，并嚴肅執法，才有可能阻止這場毀滅性的災難！
但目前我政府機構卻并未重視此有史以來此最嚴重之生存危機！轉基因管理形同虛設。農業部雖負有對中國境内進行的農業轉基因生物研究、試驗、生産、加工、經營和進出口等活動進行管理的責任，[注18] 但其現在所起的作用就相當于美國孟山都等生物農業公司，成爲轉基因産業化主要推手。
現我國種子行業已完全放開，孟山都、杜邦先鋒等轉基因大鳄擴展市場如入無人之境，種子流通已經失控，農民種植養殖轉基因動植物也已不再須經行政審批。
因将轉基因定爲農、林業發展方向，及國家種子研發資金都撥給轉基因而産生的利益導向，使農、林科研人員隻有搞轉基因才能得到資金，反之則喝西北風。因此，利益攸關之科研人員關于“轉基因食品安全可靠”，“與非轉基因實質相同”等論點更像王婆賣瓜的商家宣傳，而不具備科學見解的客觀公正性。（“實質相同”之說不過是逃避安全檢測和監管的借口。）但目前這些所謂“科學見解”卻還在嚴重影響着高層的決策。
農業部、林業部及其所屬科研院所大學既是與轉基因産業化利益攸關的推動者，又負有對轉基因産業約束管理及安全檢測評估的職責，自身角色嚴重對立，既是裁判又是運動員，因此我國目前真正公正中立的科學評價及檢測監管體系根本就沒有，這恰恰是嚴重的制度缺陷。
因此，國家最高當局須對這場最嚴重的民族生存危機予以足夠重視！當務之急應立即采取如下緊急措施：
1．立即否定轉基因商業化的合法性！在有足夠充分而有效的證據能夠證明轉基因食物/作物絕對安全以前，在法律上必須一直保持對其産業化的嚴格禁止狀态！
2．立即建立健全國家對轉基因産業化問題的嚴格監控制度。若農業部不能擺脫轉基因推手的角色而認真履行其監管職責，則應成立新的農、林業安全監管機構對轉基因事物進行安全監管（包括評估、檢測、實驗、檢查、獎懲等等）。
3．必須徹底扭轉農業和林業的轉基因方向，保護我國天然物種不受轉基因劣種侵害污染，國家的種子研發資金應主要撥給天然物種。轉基因項目必須僅限于研究。
（由植物學家蔣高明博士等領導的生态農業實驗已取得巨大成功，順應自然的生态農業在産量、質量、經濟效益、環保、安全性等各方面都遠遠優于悖逆自然規律的轉基因農業。因此，回到黨中央綠色農業、生态農業的發展方向才是我國農業的出路！）
4．立即實行國家種子專營，成立專門的種子專營管理機構及其各地分支機構，杜絕轉基因種子商業流通。

【明報專訊】羅馬尼亞國會發生罕見的跳樓抗議事件，一名不滿政府削減福利預算的電視台技工，在總理發言時從7米高看台一躍而下，掉到議事廳內，嚇壞在場議員。幸好這名示威者送院搶救後保住性命。
跳樓的40歲男子索巴魯（Adrian Sobaru）育有一名患自閉症 的兒子。他周四到國會，旁聽議員辯論對總理波克（Emil Boc）的不信任動議，波克在投票前宣讀政府削減公務員薪酬的議案時，他在看台上大聲抗議，接著跨過圍欄，從7米高看台跳下，因事發突然，在場議員都來不及阻止。索巴魯當時穿著「你毁掉我們將來」字句的T恤，他跳樓時高喊﹕「波克，你把麵包從我的孩子嘴口搶走，你剝奪了孩子們的權利。」
反對黨議員事後集體退席抗議，不信任動議泡湯，政府的削減預算案則過關。緊縮政策包括削減公務員25％薪酬及削減對殘疾兒童的津貼，兩者均令索巴魯身受其害。

The Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), the leading independent research organization in the United States on the subject of the next climate change, issues today the following warning of imminent crop damage expected to produce food and ethanol shortages for the US and Canada:

According to SSRC Director John Casey, “The Earth typically makes adjustments in major temperature spikes within two to three years. In this case as we cool down from El Nino, we are dealing with the combined effects of this planetary thermodynamic normalization and the influence of the more powerful underlying global temperature downturn brought on by the solar hibernation. Both forces will present the first opportunity since the period of Sun-caused global warming period ended to witness obvious harmful agricultural impacts of the new cold climate. Analysis shows that food and crop derived fuel will for the first time, become threatened in the next two and a half years. Though the SSRC does not get involved with short term weather prediction, it would not be unusual to see these ill-effects this year much less within the next 30 months.”
The SSRC further adds that the severity of this projected near term decline may be on the order of 0.9 C to 1.1 C from present levels. Surprising cold weather fronts will adversely impact all northern grain crops including of course wheat and the corn used in ethanol for automotive fuel.
In pointing out the importance and reliability of this new temperature forecast and its effects on North American crops, Director Casey adds,” The SSRC has been the only US independent research organization to correctly predict in advance three of the most important events in all of climate science history. We accurately announced beforehand, the end of global warming, a long term drop in the Earth’s temperatures and most importantly the advent of a historic drop in the Sun’s output, a solar hibernation. The US government’s leading science organizations, NASA and NOAA have completely missed all three, as of course have United Nations climate change experts. It is only because of the amount of expected criticism we received because of our strong opposition to the Obama administration’s climate change policies and our declaration of the end of global warming, that the SSRC is not more fully accepted for its leadership role in climate change forecasting. The facts and reliability surrounding our well publicized predictions however stand as testament to the SSRC’s proven ability to understand the nature of global climate change. In view of the importance of this new forecast I have notified the Secretary of Agriculture to take immediate actions to prepare the nation’s agricultural industry for the coming crop damage.”
The SSRC places only one caveat on this forecast. Casey elaborates, “Only a stronger solar cycle with a period longer than the 206 year cycle can cause us to alter our projections. Although more research is needed in this area, none have yet shown themselves. The present hibernation is proceeding in almost lock step as the last one which occurred from 1793 to 1830. If it continues on present course, while the cold weather impacts on food and fuel announced today are certainly important, they do not compare with what is to follow later. At the bottom of the cold cycle of this hibernation in the late 2020’s and 2030’s there will likely be years with devastating to total crop losses in the Canadian and northern US grain regions.”

Neither China or Russia, or India, or many countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, which together form the 3 quarters of the world's population, had a say.

In short, the "international community" is composed of those in the UN that have enforceable words namely The U.S., France, Germany, Great Britain; the same handful of colonial and imperialist powers that have precipitated people twice in two dreadful world wars to get their hands on the markets and fields of raw materials, oil and gas.

In all cases, although Gbagbo has close links with the French Socialists, who have shun their zeal to defend the neo-colonialist, even if his past alliances allow small casts of doubt on the objectives he defends; the struggle that ensued between the imperialist powers and the great mass of the Ivorian people, appalled by the arrogance of the former colonizers still opt to no longer tolerate the domination and exploitation they have endured for decades.
This struggle is creating a movement that transcends all petty calculations of politicians.
They have served ultimately to act as a detonator in a region that has become a linchpin in the struggle for the energy resources in Africa. Imperialism wants to inflict a lesson on the people. It wants to cut short the Ivorian fight for freedom to deter other nations of Africa.
Assuming that Ouattara had won few votes at the elections with great financial and media support from his imperialists mentors, the historical legitimacy is not on his side. It is not on the side of the minions of the ruling classes.
Legitimacy is on the side of the people who shake the shackles of domination and leaders who lead them in their struggle. The great leaps toward progress are not decided at the polls.
Obviously, the struggle is just beginning in Côte d'Ivoire.

They could be the products of a Chinese government misinformation campaign. They could be clever Photoshop jobs by Chinese aviation fanboys. Or, they could be the real thing: the first hard evidence of the long-rumored Chengdu J-20, China’s first stealth-fighter prototype.

That those rumored photos were yanked is itself perhaps proof that Beijing really does have a new fighter. “In China’s military fan Web culture, the rapid intervention of the censors is always a boost for the credibility of the poster,” aviation journalist Rick Fisher told Sweetman.

Most convincingly, the airplane depicted in the snapshots apparently has many of the right characteristics for a fifth-generation stealth-fighter prototype: a chiseled front-section, triangular wings, all-moving tailplanes. In fact, the supposed J-20 seems to combine the front fuselage of the U.S. Air Force’s F-22 with the back half of Russia’s T-50 stealth prototype, which appeared a little less than a year ago.
If it’s real — and that’s a big if — the J-20’s appearance could signal a big step forward for the Chinese air force, which to date relies mostly on airplanes bought from Russia or reverse-engineered from Russian or Israeli designs.
Panicky Western air-power advocates, who a year ago claimed America would be “less safe” if the Pentagon pressed forward with plans to end production of the F-22 stealth fighter at 187 copies, might just announce the end of America’s 50-year dominance of the skies. Alarmists made similar claims when Russia’s new T-50 fighter first flew, despite that plane’s many non-stealthy attributes and dubious production prospects.
The Pentagon hasn’t had a chance to comment on the J-20 photos, but is likely to remain sanguine. In deliberations over the F-22, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates acknowledged that the Chinese were working on a stealth fighter, but insisted the Communist country would have “no fifth-generation aircraft by 2020,” while the United States would have more than a thousand F-22s and F-35s.
In the year-and-a-half since Gates made that claim, the Pentagon has delayed F-35 production and China has apparently accelerated its own stealth development — alleged J-20 photos aside — but the spirit of Gates’ assertion remains valid.
Even if the photos are real and the J-20 exists as more than blueprints, there’s probably no cause for alarm. The United States flew its first stealth prototypes — the YF-22 and rival YF-23 — in 1990; the J-20 hasn’t even flown yet. It took 15 years for the F-22 to enter front-line service. Considering China’s quality-control problems with high technology, it could take a decade or more for the J-20 to appear in numbers that make any difference in the Pacific balance of power. Gates might have been slightly off in his assessment of the Chinese air force, but probably not by much.
And that’s all assuming Beijing’s Christmas stealth-fighter surprise isn’t all just Photoshop magic. With so little good information on military hardware coming out of China, fighter fakery is a real prospect. In which case, we’ll wait for China’s first stealth fighter to make its true debut.
Update, 7:28 EST: There’s another photo up — the clearest yet. “The impression here is of a big, long aircraft, 70+ feet from nose to tail, which would make sense for a number of reasons,” Sweetman wrote in reaction. He speculated the J-20 might have “lower supercruise performance and agility than an F-22, but with larger weapon bays and more fuel.”
“Why would China need or want a short-range stealth aircraft?” he continued. “Any targets with defenses that call for that capability are a long way from the mainland. Also, the bigger that the aircraft is, the more likely it is that it is a bomber as much as, if not more than, a fighter.”

They could be the products of a Chinese government misinformation campaign. They could be clever Photoshop jobs by Chinese aviation fanboys. Or, they could be the real thing: the first hard evidence of the long-rumored Chengdu J-20, China’s first stealth-fighter prototype.

The above photo and several others surfaced over the Christmas weekend on Chinese internet forums, catching the eye of Aviation Week fighter guru Bill Sweetman. A noted skeptic in the sometimes enthusiastic world of fast-jet journalism, Sweetman stressed that the pics might be fakes.

But there are hints that the J-20 photos are real — and that much clearer shots exist, somewhere. “Rumor has it that better shots have put in transient appearances on Chinese Websites before being zapped by the censor,” Sweetman wrote. That those rumored photos were yanked is itself perhaps proof that Beijing really does have a new fighter. “In China’s military fan Web culture, the rapid intervention of the censors is always a boost for the credibility of the poster,” aviation journalist Rick Fisher told Sweetman.

Most convincingly, the airplane depicted in the snapshots apparently has many of the right characteristics for a fifth-generation stealth-fighter prototype: a chiseled front-section, triangular wings, all-moving tailplanes. In fact, the supposed J-20 seems to combine the front fuselage of the U.S. Air Force’s F-22 with the back half of Russia’s T-50 stealth prototype, which appeared a little less than a year ago.
If it’s real — and that’s a big if — the J-20’s appearance could signal a big step forward for the Chinese air force, which to date relies mostly on airplanes bought from Russia or reverse-engineered from Russian or Israeli designs.
Panicky Western air-power advocates, who a year ago claimed America would be “less safe” if the Pentagon pressed forward with plans to end production of the F-22 stealth fighter at 187 copies, might just announce the end of America’s 50-year dominance of the skies. Alarmists made similar claims when Russia’s new T-50 fighter first flew, despite that plane’s many non-stealthy attributes and dubious production prospects.
