Birmingham Against The Cuts has planned the protest and asked the campaign groups, community groups and Birmingham residents to "stand up for schools, community centres, libraries, leisure centres, young people, pensioners, workers, unemployed and home help."
伯明翰反對削減已計劃抗議及要求運動團體、社區團體和伯明翰居民去“為學校、社區中心、圖書館、休閒中心、青少年、退休職工、失業和家庭幫助等服務站起來。“
The council should save £212 million from its 2011-12 budget, which would rise to £320 million in the next three years. It would also face 7,000 job cuts by 2015.
議會應從2011-12年度的預算省回2億1千2百萬英鎊,那將在未來三年增加至3.2億英鎊,它在2015年亦將面臨7,000份工作削減。
Secretary of Birmingham Against the Cuts Godfrey Webster said, "These cuts will affect every person in this city, and every person has their own reason to be there. There is an increasing mood of anger amongst the ordinary people of Birmingham who are furious about the proposed cuts to jobs, services and pensions."
"There is a growing awareness that these cuts, being carried out by the Conservative-Lib Dem Council, are political in nature. The poor, women and the vulnerable should not be made to pay for the bankers' greed," he added.
The cuts would mostly affect disabled and elderly people in Birmingham, since Adult Care Services will face over £33million cuts in their budget.
Hundreds of people have marched through Birmingham city centre and demonstrated against £320 million cuts in the city council's budget.
