Fans of The Simpsons are convinced that the hit animated show predicted the Coronavirus outbreak in an episode that aired 27-years-ago.

Viewers have drawn similarities to the episode which was created by Matt Groening to the modern outbreak of the killer virus.

In the 1993 episode, the residents of Springfield were eager to get their hands on the latest line of blenders as juicing suddenly became a popular trend.

In one scene, a factory worker in Japan was seen coughing all over the kitchen products before they were eventually shipped off to America.

Following this, in the episode ironically named Osaka Flu - the virus then hits Springfield and the rest of the States.

Viewers flocked to social media to discuss the episode which has once again been brought to attention but they failed to notice that the Osaka Flu was created in Japan, whereas coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China.

One fan even went as far as to edit the words Osaka Flu to coronavirus during a news report segment in the episode.

Social media sensation Jordan Coombe shared screenshots of the episode alongside the caption: "The Simpsons have done it again #CoronaVirus."

Another added: "Someone needs to do a documentary how The Simpsons predict future. It's actually scary. [sic]"

While a third tweeted: "Illuminati confirmed. The Simpsons predicted the coronavirus... well I'm freaking out."

However, this isn't the first time the show has predicted the future. During an episode that aired in 2000 - the show revealed that Donald Trump would go on to be elected as the US President.

This revelation comes after two cases of coronavirus have been revealed in Newcastle and more than 80 suspected coronavirus patients are being held in quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital on The Wirral.
