Fifteen European liberal youth organizations submitted the Resolution “DEMAND TO RESPECT THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF THE PEOPLE OF HONG KONG”! 🇪🇺

In the case of success, it will be the strongest pro-HK democracy resolution that has ever passed on the European level!

The voting is going to be during the Annual Autumn Congress of European Liberal Youth (LYMEC), which will be hosted by Young Liberals in London on November 9. And it is also so symbolic!

We will publish the full text of the resolution in November.

Here you could find for what we are calling:

1) To condemn the severe violations of human rights and freedoms in the territory of Hong Kong.

2) To require the governments of Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China to respect international law and the provisions of the Sino-British Joint Declaration.

3) To raise the issue of maintaining human rights and freedoms in Hong Kong on the level of the highly respected mother parties.

4) To establish an independent and impartial commission to investigate the police violence.

5) To guarantee a political asylum for protesters who are in danger in the EU.

6) To make a referendum possible after 2047 and let the inhabitants of Hong Kong decide own future.

7) To urge EU representatives, especially the President of the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to meet with representatives of the democracy movement in Hong Kong.

8) To establish sanctions for any breach of the Sino-British declaration as a breach of international law.

9) To identify persons responsible for human rights violations and to enact personalized sanctions like freezing of monetary assets and entry bans to the EU.
