More than 50 hungry polar bears have invaded a Russian village. A state of emergency has been declared on Soviet nuclear testing archipelago Novaya Zemlya as the beasts enter the front doors of apartment blocks. Despite the siege, residents have been warned they face prosecution if they shoot the endangered species.
