就蘇格蘭 、英格蘭 及德國 影響吸食海洛英人士的炭疽病爆發個案，衛生署 發言人今日表示，本港近年並沒有發現人類感染炭疽病個案。
截至今年4月29日止，蘇格蘭共錄得36宗實驗室確診炭疽病個案，當中12宗為死亡個案，而英格蘭及德國亦錄得數宗炭疽病個案。
根據蘇格蘭衛生當局的資料，病人很可能吸食或注射了受炭疽孢子污染的海洛英而感染炭疽病，當局已展開進一步調查，以確定感染途徑和海洛英的供應網絡。沒有證據顯示該疾病會人傳人，或增加患者的家庭、朋友及與其接觸人士的染病風險，以及公眾人士染病的風險。
衛生署亦會在為吸食海洛英人士提供服務的地方，如美沙酮診所、戒毒治療康復中心及物質誤用診所等，加強宣傳海洛英的風險。
在香港，炭疽病是法定呈報的疾病。衛生署自2003年至今，未有錄得炭疽病個案。

蘇格蘭、英格蘭及德國，近日爆發炭疽病，懷疑患者吸食或注射了受炭疽孢子污染的海洛英而染病，其中蘇格蘭有三十六宗個案，其中十二人死亡，英格蘭和德國亦有幾宗病例。本港衛生署表示，零三年至今無發現有人感染炭疽病。

A further case of anthrax has been confirmed in a drug user in Scotland bringing the total number of cases in this outbreak to 33.
The new case was confirmed to have taken place in the NHS Lothian area. It is the first case of the outbreak in the area.
So far, the number of anthrax-related deaths stands at 11.
Health Protection Scotland said the cases emphasised contaminated heroin was still in circulation in Scotland.
'Difficult advice'
Dr Colin Ramsay, Health Protection Scotland's consultant epidemiologist, said: "There is no way to tell if your heroin is contaminated and there is no way to take heroin which we can advise is safer or less likely to result in illness or death if it has anthrax contamination.
"Drug users are advised that the only way to avoid the risk of anthrax in this outbreak is not to take heroin.
"While we appreciate that this may be extremely difficult advice to follow, it remains the only public health protection advice possible due to the nature of anthrax infection."
Users should seek urgent medical attention in the event of symptoms such as redness or swelling at or near an injection site, or other symptoms of general illness such a fever, chills or a severe headache, as early antibiotic treatment can be lifesaving.
Marked swelling of a limb which has been used as an injection site is a particularly important sign of possible anthrax infection.
