Cathay Pacific made a ridiculous internal announcement today — employees who take part in the so-called “illegal protests”, which include peaceful sit-in protest not permitted by the increasingly authoritarian HKSAR government, will face serious disciplinary actions such as immediate termination of employment contract. They even warn their employees not to disclose sensitive information on their private social media account.
This is absolutely an infringement on the right to political expression. In particular, what is most scary is that they dare to put hands on employees’ private lives. We must resist.
