Fresh air strikes by the United States have killed at least 27 civilians and injured 15 others in southern Afghanistan, the Afghan interior ministry says.

Afghan authorities announced that the fatalities included four women and a child.

The strikes took place in Uruzgan province on Sunday.

Interior Ministry Spokesman Zemeri Bashary said Monday he had reports of 27 people killed.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday criticized foreign troops for killing civilians.

The angry Afghan president held up a picture of an 8-year-old girl whose entire family was killed during a US-led offensive in the southern town of Marjah.

"If a little girl is to collect the dead bodies of family members, you can guess in what situation we are in now," Karzai said.

Many Afghan civilians have been killed both by violent militant acts, including bombings and daily fighting, as well as by US military operations in the country.

新華社 報道，阿富汗 官員22日說，北約 部隊21日晚在阿南部烏魯茲甘省發動的空襲導致至少19名阿富汗平民身亡，另有16人受傷。

烏魯茲甘省委員會主任霍塔基22日說，北約飛機21日晚間在連接喬拉和卡季蘭地區的一條公路上針對反政府武裝分子發動空襲，但卻擊中3輛小客車，造成包括婦女和兒童在內的19人喪生，16人受傷。

北約部隊22日發佈公告證實，北約空中部隊21日與一夥武裝分子交火。當北約和阿富汗地面部隊趕到現場時，發現空襲造成婦女和兒童死傷。聯合部隊隨即將傷者送往附近醫院。公告沒有透露具體死亡人數。

公告說，駐阿美軍和北約部隊最高指揮官麥克裡斯特爾21日晚已就這一事件向阿富汗總統卡爾扎伊 致歉，並承諾將充分配合與阿富汗方面展開的聯合調查。
