The Greek government has accused the EU of contributing to the current debt crisis that has brought the country -- and eurozone -- to the brink of economic collapse, according to a report by AFP.

Giorgos Petalotis told the radio station Kanail 1 that EU experts had closed their eyes to the evidence of the irregular Goldman Sachs swap transactions that allowed officials inside the Greek government to pile up state debt, paving the way for the take over of the country by the EU and the bankers.

The Greek swap transactions were first reported in Risk Magazine as far back as 2003, but the EU experts claim to have only discovered them now, using the discovery of hidden debt as a pretext to take over the country's economy and push through austere budget cuts.

Greece's credit rating was lowered in 2009 by agencies such as Moody, forcing the country to spend more money on servicing its debts.

Moody has come under fire for awarding incorrect AAA ratings to billions of dollars worth of a complex debt product due to a bug in its computer models, the Financial Times reported, so helping to cause the banking crisis in the first place.

Internal Moody's showed that "some staff within the credit agency knew early in 2007 that products rated the previous year at AAA should, after a computer coding error was corrected, have been cut by up to four notches", according to Forbes.

Pelatolis also accused the controlled mainstream German media, specifically Focus and Stern, of whipping up popular hatred against Greeks, accusing them of being collectively responsible for the actions of a tiny group of Goldman Sachs bankers, government and EU officials.

The German ambassador in Greece is to be called in to discuss the distorted German media coverage.

If the Greek economy collapses, it will endanger the entire eurozone and will eventually bring down the German economy too, experts say.

（法新社雅典24日電） 希臘民眾為抗議政府解救國債危機而制定的緊縮計劃，今天發動大罷工，空中、鐵路及海上運輸面臨全面停擺。

數以千計的公、民營機構員工準備參與罷工，罷工從昨天午夜展開，但全面影響今天稍晚才會顯現。

罷工活動由強大的希臘民間勞工組織GSEE發起，並有公務員工會撐腰。罷工勢必導致學校停課、政府機關及法庭停擺，並擾亂銀行、醫院及國營企業的運作。

全國記者聯盟也同意支持罷工，罷工新聞可能因而無人報導。

雅典地鐵及公車路線將提供基本服務，運載罷工人士抵達市中心，參加街頭抗議活動。

信貸評級機構惠譽（Fitch）昨天將希臘最大4家銀行的發行人違約評級（IDR）下調一級，讓希臘政府雪上加霜。

惠譽表示，整頓希臘公共財政的必要措施「對實體經濟將產生重大效應，借貸需求將受影響，資產品質也將承受額外的壓力」。
