Health probe in young man's sudden death

Twenty-three-year-old took swine flu vaccine five days earlier

The health authorities are investigating the unexpected death of a young man who took the swine flu vaccine five days earlier, although initial results indicate just a "coincidental" relation between the two.
衛生當局正在調查意外死亡的一名年輕男子，他五日之前接受豬流感疫苗注射，雖然初步結果表明兩者之間的關係純屬“巧合”。
Clayton Cachia, 23, died on Wednesday evening at Mater Dei Hospital after he was taken ill from work.

Described by his distraught parents, Joseph and Pauline, as perfectly healthy, Mr Cachia was to be engaged to his girlfriend Ebony in two months' time.
The health authorities confirmed that an autopsy was held yesterday and medical tests were ongoing to determine whether the untimely death was related to the vaccine.

"Since the person was injected with the A(H1N1) influenza vaccine five days ago, the case is being followed very closely by the health authorities. From the information collected so far the relation between his death and the vaccine could possibly be coincidental," a spokesman said.
Mr Cachia's sudden death came as a complete surprise to his parents and only sister, Romina.

"He was a healthy six-foot-four boy," his mother said, adding he took the swine flu vaccine on Saturday after being advised to do so at his work place. Mr Cachia had only just started working as a medical representative with a pharmaceutical company two months earlier.

"I do not know whether his death is linked to the vaccine. Doctors said it was not but I don't know. I don't know. I have not taken the vaccine and will not take it myself," his mother added.

"I am going to die," his grieving father said, pointing out that doctors had taken all the necessary tests and sent them abroad.

"They told us his heart swelled. He took the injection on Saturday... I don't know if it was a reaction to the vaccine," he said.

Mr Cachia was an "exemplary" child who, according to his mother, "brightened up the street" with his charm.
An avid Manchester United supporter, Mr Cachia had left home at 5 a.m. after kissing his mother goodbye. He collapsed at work a few hours later.

On Thursday, December 30, one day after the launch of the vaccination campaign against influenza AH1N1, terrible news plunged the staff of the University Hospital-Saadna Abdennour into mourning: the head doctor of the ICU, Dr. Lilia Rezig, had died mysteriously, “just after she had been inoculated with the vaccine against influenza AH1N1, like her colleagues” reported our fellow newspaper “Le Jeune Indépendant” in its Friday edition. The deceased had shown no signs of disease that would explain her sudden death, said the source.

As a reminder, to date 20 cases of suspected influenza A H1N1 and 4 deaths have been recorded at all of the wilaya of Setif, according to official sources. However, since the suspicious death of this 35 year old physician after being vaccinated, huge doubts hang over the effectiveness or the potential dangerousness of the vaccine.
Questioned by Le Jeune Independent, Professor Lachhab, head of the reference centre, said "it is still early to comment on the cause of this sudden death of his colleague," and that "only an autopsy will determine the true cause of this death”.

In an attempt to be reassuring, Professor Lchahab said he "was himself vaccinated from the same bottle used for the deceased, alongside Dr. Lehtihet, Health Director, Dr. Kusa, head of the prevention unit, and other colleagues, last Wednesday, date of the start of the vaccination campaign in the medical community of the wilaya.

The health ministry will conduct an epidemiologic investigation into whether H1N1 influenza vaccinations can increase the death risk for people with serious chronic diseases, ministry officials said Wednesday.

The UK government agency which is responsible for drug safety, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), has said that 8 deaths as well as eight miscarriages have been reported to it after the pandemrix vaccine.

There has also been one case of suspected Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), the MHRA says.
Sixty-four reports of suspected adverse reactions in pregnant women were reported.

美近5000宗不良反應CDC本月十一日公布的最新每周報告指出，美國截至十二月四日已注射六千四百萬劑豬流感疫苗，錄得不良反應四千八百九十宗，百分之九十四點三屬輕微反應，如針口紅腫。CDC同期共錄得十三宗注射疫苗後出現吉巴氏綜合症，不過美國每周平均出現八十至一百六十宗吉巴氏綜合症，故CDC正評估十三宗發病個案是否與疫苗有關。
國家衞生部日前亦公布數據顯示，內地三十一個省市最少已替三千二百多萬人打豬流感疫苗，當中三千六百多人出現不同異常反應，多為發燒及局部紅腫，出現嚴重異常反應的機會率約百萬分之一。

Reports of serious side effects from the swine flu vaccine including numbness, fever, inflammation of the brain are soaring in France - but in a pattern that is repeating itself across the world, the reports are being ignored by the authorities and the mainstream media, and are instead being circulated on the internet.

The German drug regulator, the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), has said it has found no evidence that any of the15 people reported by doctors as dying after getting the swine jab actually died as a result of the shot.
12 of the 16 of the members of a key vaccination committee of the PEI have links with the pharmaceutical industry, and this regulator was also responsible for allowing the toxic and untested swine flu jab onto the market in the first place.
It is, therefore, legitimate to raise the question of whether there is a conflict of interest in the case of the PEI and whether the investigation into the possible deaths of people taking the swine flu should be conducted by genuinely independent authorities.

Only 12 % of the Swiss intend to take the swine flu jab, according to a poll conducted in early to mid November .
73% said they did not want the jab largely because of concerns over its safety.
The numbers willing to take the jab in December in Switzerland could be even lower, in the meantime, since five deaths have been reported among people who took the jab, even though th Swiss vaccination campaign has barely started.

Two children in The Netherlands died after getting the swine flu shot according to the newspaper, De Telegraaf.
One of the children had a severe heart disease and died 5 days after getting the shot.
The second child developped a fever after being vaccinated. The child appears to have had no underlying condition or sickness that could be attributed as the cause of death.
The authorities are dying a link between the shot and the deaths.
