HIV/Aids has become the leading cause of death among women of child-bearing age in different parts of the world, UN officials say.
愛滋病毒/愛滋病在世界的不同地區，已成為生育年齡婦女的領先死亡原因，聯合國官員說。
According to a report recently released by UNAIDS — the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/Aids —, bringing violence used against women to an end is a key priority in fighting the disease.
根據由聯合國愛滋病規劃署(UNAIDS)- 聯合國愛滋病毒/愛滋病 聯合計劃-最近公開佈的一份報告 ，把'使用暴力對待婦女'完結，已不再是一項關鍵優先要對抗的疾病。
About 70 percent of women in different parts of the world particularly South Africa are forced to have unprotected sex, UNAIDS reported.

In sub-Saharan Africa, women account for almost 60 percent of HIV sufferers, latest figures revealed.

Compared with young men of the same age, young women are three times more likely to be infected with the deadly virus.

"By robbing them of their dignity, we are losing the opportunity to tap half the potential of mankind to achieve the Millennium Development Goals," said UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe.

UNAIDS officials hope their findings will make policymakers pay more attention to the wellbeing of women and girls across the world.

To this end, they are launching an open dialogue regarding issues such as gender inequality and violence against women, with the aim of integrating them into HIV prevention programs.
